Britain’s Got Talent viewers horrified by ‘ridiculously dangerous’ stunt
Britain’s Got Talent audiences recoiled in shock after watching a man set himself on fire while attempting to solve a Rubik’s Cube during Sunday night’s show.
Viewers called out the talent show online, branding the stunt ‘ridiculous’ and ‘totally unacceptable’ for a family fixture.
Thomas Vu – a professional stunt man – covered himself in a fire-resistant gel before solving the famous puzzle while being set alight.
However impressive the trick appeared on the night, those watching at home were more appalled than in awe of the performance.
They took to Twitter to share their opinions of the audition on the long-standing ITV variety show that features Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli.
One fan wrote: ‘Like what has BGT come to when we set people on fire for entertainment?’
‘BGT absolutely not on, setting yourself on fire, do not try this at home. Shouldn’t be allowed [sic]’, another said.
A Twitter user penned: ‘BGT totally ill considered showing a guy setting himself on fire whilst solving a Rubik’s Cube. No thought to the fact of impressionable children watch the show [sic]’.
‘Sorry but showing a man setting himself on fire on a “family” show is not acceptable. Even with the mention “do not try this at home”’, someone watching on the night shared with their social media network.
Elsewhere, fans were disappointed further with the evening’s proceedings as a yoyo-ing duo revealed they had already had a shot at the prize on the American version of the show.
Toy Toy initially impressed the star-studded panel with their quick tricks and synchronicity however it was then revealed one of the members had competed on America’s Got Talent as a solo act.
Before beginning their showcase in Manchester, Shu Takada questioned Simon about whether or not he remembered him.
Furious fans flooded social media following the revelation with one writing: ‘So we get Japanese people who were on America’s Got Talent now on #bgt talk about recycling talent [sic]’.
‘Tonight’s yoyo act were the 6 time world professional yoyo champ and the 2 time champ! From JAPAN! You are BRITAIN’S GOT TALENT [sic]’, another exclaimed.
Britain’s Got Talent continues next weekend on ITV1 and ITVX.
