The UK’s best winter beach was named as Whitley Bay in Tyne & Wear by Parkdean Resorts.
The team looked at several factors including the chances of snow and the number of cafes to make their decision.
They said: “A popular holiday destination, Whitley Bay boasts a stunning two-mile-long golden sandy beachfront, and with some areas dog friendly, makes the perfect winter walk for all the family to enjoy!”
A visitor wrote on Tripadvisor: “Views are amazing. Seals are a treat if you keep your eyes open and you can keep your voice down.”
DON’T MISS
In the 18th century, Robin Hood’s Bay was once one of the busiest smuggling communities on the Yorkshire coast.
Although there’s no smugglers there today, tourists can still meander the winding streets and grab a hot chocolate in a snug cafe.
Skegness Beach and Blackpool Beach took fourth and fifth spot in the rankings and are both great choices for families.
Families visiting before Christmas could take the kids to the Christmas Grotto at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
