BREAKING: Major road CLOSED and ‘air ambulance lands’ after serious crash

Emergency services have raced out to a major road in east Manchester following a serious crash. The A57 Hyde Road, in Gorton, is currently closed in both directions at Reddish Bridge following an incident near Debdale Lane.

Eyewitnesses have reported seeing an air ambulance land at the scene. Details on the nature of the collision are yet to be confirmed.

In a message sent on Twitter, a spokesperson for Transport for Greater Manchester said: “A57 Hyde Road – Closed at Reddish Bridge in both directions. This is due to road traffic collision.

“This is having an impact at M60 J24 Denton Island Slips. Please avoid the area if possible.”

The closure is causing slow traffic between Denton Island and Wellington Street, according to the Inrix traffic monitoring system. Inrix says the smash was first reported at around 1.50pm this afternoon.

There is also heavy traffic reported in the Dane Bank area of Denton following the crash. Greater Manchester Police, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and North West Ambulance Service have all been approached for comment.
