Bradley Walsh walks off The Chase in disbelief as worst cash-builder wins big
The Chase may have been on air for 14 years, but it still has the capability to shock host Bradley Walsh and contestant Janty did that with the ultimate comeback.
We’ve seen it all on the ITV game show – a man earning £1000 by passing on a question, as well as some pretty comical questions on everything from old willies to Fanny Chmelar, and Gritty Beaver.
Most recently, Bradley, 63, was left flabbergasted by Janty who scored a grand total of £0 in the cash-builder round. This is the section of the show where contestants have to answer as many questions as possible in 60 seconds, with each correct response being worth £1000.
It was assumed that due to her poor performance, she’d be out of the competition entirely pretty quickly. However, things went in an unexpected direction.
In the next round, each contestant has to choose between a higher offer (which is closer to the chaser), their earned money (£0 in Janty’s case) and a lower offer (further away from the chaser).
The Chaser Jenny ‘The Vixen’ Ryan offered Janty £40,000 as her high offer, which meant answering six questions correctly to actually get the money added to the collective prize fund.
This is all with Jenny on her tail, so limited mistakes can be made. If she answered wrong twice, and Jenny got them right it would all be over.
Somehow, Janty managed to do the seemingly impossible and successfully earn the money leaving Bradley shocked.
He ran off set with his arms in the air exclaiming: ‘I cannot believe that!’
He added: ‘Janty that was tremendous. That will go down for me in Chase history. That was absolutely thrilling. I loved every second of that.’
Viewers at home were equally impressed.
‘That’s the best comeback since Lazarus, Brad. Well done Janty. Played Jenny like a proper hustler,’ remarked one person.
India Willoughby added: ‘Incredible game by Janty! One of the greatest ever. She’s a hustler! #TheChase Boom!’
Viewers congratulated Janty on the remarkable turnaround: ‘She’s only gone and done it. Well done Janty!’
When it came to the final round, Janty was alone as her three fellow contestants hadn’t made it through their individual one-to-one chases.
Unfortunately, her winning streak ran out and she left the show with nothing but the knowledge she’d thrilled Bradley.
Janty answered just six questions correctly, and Jenny had two minutes to answer the same amount of questions.
The contestants have a slight benefit that they can ‘push back’ the Chaser if they get a question wrong and they are able to answer correctly, but that didn’t help.
