Brad Pitt let 105-year-old neighbour live in his compound rent-free

Brad Pitt sold his Californian compound last month after 29 years of calling it home.

The Bullet Train star raised his six children with his former wife Angelina Jolie in the property and bought up the homes surrounding it to form his $39 million estate over the years.

One property he ended up buying belonged to Elvira star Cassandra Peterson, 71, who has now opened up on what it’s like being neighbours with the most famous couple in Hollywood during the prime of their fame.

Rather than tales of bad neighbourly habits, or potential dramas from the family of eight, Cassandra revealed Brad’s relentless kindness to all of his neighbours.

She explained that Brad eventually purchased a neighbouring property from a widower in his nineties, John, but allowed the man to still stay in the home and refused to accept any type of rent payment.

Cassandra told People: “I know that Brad allowed him to live there without paying anything until he died.

“It was kind of funny because John lived to be 105. I imagine Brad was thinking well, you know, he can live there till he dies, which might be any minute now.”

Cassandra declared that the actor was always “kind and sweet” in their chance encounters over the years, and revealed that even fellow celebrities aren’t immune to his good looks.

In the late 1990s, the actress was running late to an event and had to quickly rush out the house to walk her dogs before getting ready to leave, but was stopped in her tracks when she sauntered past Brad’s driveway.

She said: “I go past Brad’s garage and he’s in there wearing only sweatpants and punching.

“I swear I almost fainted. I remember he goes, ‘Hey, how are you?’ and I’m like, ‘Huh.’ I couldn’t talk.

“He’s just so stunningly, stunningly handsome — and nice, to top it off.”

While she had no way of knowing at the time, Brad was training for his iconic role in the 1999 flick Fight Club.

Cassandra also recalled her “favourite” memory with Brad as she got to show-off her high-profile connections while at a downtown restaurant with a group of other mums from her child’s school.

She shared: “We’re sitting there having coffee and all of a sudden I feel a tap on my shoulder. I turn around and it’s Brad. He goes, ‘Cassandra!’ and he gives me a big hug.

“These other mothers I was with, their mouths were hanging open and they could not shut.

“I was just like, ‘Oh my God, this is the best thing that ever happened to me in my whole life’.”
