Born to Perform receive David Walliams’ golden buzzer after ‘joyous’ routine

David Walliams awarded the third Britain’s Got Talent Golden Buzzer of the series tonight after Born to Perform brought a ‘joyous’ dance routine to the stage.

The dance group received a standing ovation from all four judges, with Declan Donnelly labelling it ‘joyous, just joyous’ and Ant McPartlin adding: ‘Brilliant!’

Born to Perform had the whole audience on their feet, dancing along to their routine to You Can’t Stop The Beat from Hairspray, and it was clear they were set to be a favourite.

The group, from Northampton, consists of people with disabilities aged between 14 and 24, and while they seemed to be having an incredible time on stage, they brought just as much joy to those watching.

‘Oh God I loved it,’ David said, beginning the judges’ comments.

‘Your passion is just pouring out, it’s wonderful to see, you did a fantastic job, each and every one of you,’ Alesha Dixon added.

‘I did not stop smiling for the whole of that performance. You were amazing,’ Amanda Holden continued before Simon Cowell teased: ‘I didn’t like it… I loved it.’

‘I loved the fact that you were having such a great time, it was actually one of my favourite auditions I’m going to be honest with you,’ he said, all smiles.

‘I absolutely loved it guys, in fact, I loved it so much that I’m going to do this,’ David concluded as he pressed the Golden Buzzer.

With Alesha and Amanda blinking tears away, an emotional moment followed as those on stage and in the audience erupted in cheers and applause, with David heading on stage to celebrate with them.

Born to Perform join Simon’s golden buzzer act, comedian Axel Blake, and Amanda’s golden buzzer act Loren Allred, the original singer of the track Never Enough from the 2018 musical film The Greatest Showman.

Both acts have since become controversial as viewers have accused the show of being fixed, with Loren having previously secured fame and been on The Voice, and Axel having his own comedy special on Amazon Prime.

With three golden buzzer acts already secured for live shows, only two more spots remain with Alesha as well as Ant and Dec.

Britain’s Got Talent continues next Saturday at 8pm.
