Bondee Lets Filipinos Hang Out In The Metaverse

A new social media app, Bondee has been gaining popularity in the Philippines. Unlike its competitors, it allows users to interact with each other via personalized avatars.

Each user gets a customizable space that enables them to form digital plazas. Then, a user could tap their friend’s space to see what they’re doing.

They could even engage in numerous activities, such as camping, dancing, and sitting on a swing. Moreover, the sailing feature lets them meet new friends.

How does Bondee work?

You may try this metaverse app by downloading it from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Similar to other social media apps, you must create an account. Then, it’s time to create your avatar.

Instead of uploading a photo of yourself, you must create a 3D digital character or avatar to represent you.

You may change your character’s facial features, skin color, hair, clothes, and other accessories. Next, you must improve how your digital space looks.

Think of it as your “room” or “house” in Bondee. Add chairs, beds, and other indoor fixtures until it looks nice for you and your friends.

Bondee allows users to register up to 50 words at the time of writing. After linking with other Bondee users, your spaces will link into a “plaza.”

It provides an overview of your and your friends’ spaces. Also, you may tap your friend’s spaces to see what they’re doing and leave messages.

Why limit yourselves to DMs (direct messages) when you can engage in other activities? Here are some of the stuff you can do with your Bondee friends:

  • Camping
  • Sitting on a sofa
  • Having a picnic
  • Dancing

Moreover, the social media app has a sailing function that lets avatars explore Bondee’s wider digital world.

You could meet fellow users in other countries like Singapore, South Korea, and Japan. Bondee entered the top 10 social media rankings in Japan at the time of writing.

More importantly, it is the number one free social app on the Philippine Google Play Store. Its founder Metadream plans to establish facilities in the country too.

Metadream’s app offers non-fungible tokens in Singapore. According to Channel News Asia and other sources, Bondee’s policy privacy lets users create a “blockchain-based wallet” in the app.

Then, they could purchase the in-game currency B-Beans, which lets people buy accessories as non-fungible tokens or NFTs.

NFTs represent ownership of physical and digital objects via blockchain or cryptocurrency networks.

Singaporean users could buy B-Beans in different amounts. At the time of writing, 100 B-Beans cost 1.48 Singapore dollars or roughly 61.40 Philippine pesos.

The current Philippine version does not have these features yet. Still, it would likely launch them in the future.

Conclusion

Bondee has been a trending social media app in the Philippines. It allows Filipinos to hang out with their friends online via personalized avatars.

Bondee is not the only social media platform that’s taking on the giants like Facebook and Twitter. For example, Mastodon and Discord’s Gas app have been trending worldwide.
