Body language expert claims to spot Camilla looking ‘frustrated’ and ‘tetchy’

The Royal Family is known for decorum and its ability to work any crowd with a beaming smile.

However, the royals are human too, and occasionally they are caught off-guard with a less than delighted facial expression.

Body language expert Judi James spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk about a time Queen Camilla appeared less than impressed – although it was not in her nature.

Judi stated: “It’s taken Camilla so long to try to win the public round after the death of Diana that she’s unlikely to look anything other than sweet, kind, friendly and compliant at royal events. 

“But there have been some moments in the past when her body language has appeared to go off-message and suggest boredom, frostiness or strong irritation.”

Another moment of displeasure Judi claimed to spot was at the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony in the same year.

On April 4, 2018, Charles and Camilla attended the event in Australia, and the now Queen was “criticised for looking bored and distracted”.

Judi claimed: “Both she and Charles appeared to get off on the wrong foot when they walked out into the stadium and made the long walk to the VIP stand muttering and chatting asides to each other rather than acknowledging the cheering crowds.

“During the opening speeches, Camilla then made a bad situation look worse by flipping through the pages of her programme when she should have been paying attention and using active listening and responding signals.”

Louise Martin, president of the Commonwealth Games Federation, said that Camilla was exhausted rather than disinterested, explaining that she had had an incredibly hectic day, reported The Independent.

But according to Judi this was not a good enough reason for the royal’s body language, as it’s something we wouldn’t have seen from Queen Elizabeth II.

“The excuse that was given was that she was tired but she should have known from the body language of the late Queen that looking tired is never an option on public appearances, especially when the whole of the Commonwealth is watching.”
