Blue: Twitter Blue tick: Amitabh Bachchan’s message to Twitter “bhaiya” on not getting verified – Times of India
In a tweet, the actor asked Twitter to verify his account so that people can know that this is his legitimate account.
“T 4623 – A twitter brother! Are you listening? Now we have filled the money too… so that blue lotus [tick] is there, right, put it back brother, so that people know that we are the ones – Amitabh Bachchan .. with folded hands Here we are Of now, Godwa [feet] of couples??,” he tweeted [translated]
His reaction came after several personalities – from actors to politicians and people of clout – lost their verified badges as Twitter removed them from accounts that did not pay for its monthly subscription service.
Why legacy Blue ticks are removed
Earlier this year, Twitter CEO Elon Musk said that Twitter would get rid of legacy Blue ticks on April 1. But only a few handles lost the verification badge. On April 11, he tweeted that the legacy check marks will be removed on April 20.
Under the previous leadership, blue ticks were given to notable personalities with the aim to ensure that those accounts are legitimate. But Musk disliked the idea and wanted to bring parity in the “lords & peasants system.” He strengthened his take by saying that paid verification will help reduce bots on the micro-blogging platform.
The much-coveted blue tick can be acquired by Blue subscription at Rs 650 per month, or Rs 6,800 a year. The check mark once served as a stamp of authenticity but anyone can buy it now.
