‘Blessed’ Panthers weapon inks new NRL deal

The Panthers have revealed the re-signing of boom winger Brian To’o, who’s inked a four-year contract extension to tie himself to Penrith until the end of 2027.

To’o, a local St Mary’s junior, has played 70 NRL games with the Panthers and was a member of Penrith’s 2021 and 2022 grand final victories.

The 24-year-old has also represented New South Wales in State of Origin and Samoa in the Rugby League World Cup.

“I’m very grateful and blessed to call Panthers home for the next four years,” said To’o, whose re-signing was announced one day after his wedding.

“I’d like to thank everyone at the club for giving me the opportunity to do what I love. I can’t wait to play for our amazing members and fans, who have shown me nothing but love and support.”

The new deal for To’o follows the fresh contract for Panthers winger Taylan May, who scored a two-year contract extension in June.

In a swap deal with Wests Tigers in October which saw Penrith lure Tyrone Peachey back to the club, the Panthers offloaded young winger Charlie Staines.

To’o bagged 15 tries for the Panthers in 2021 and 13 in 2022, and is also crucial to Penrith with his strong carries deep in his side’s territory.

“Not only is Bizza a tremendous player who has continually performed at the highest level in the biggest games, but he is more importantly a brilliant young man who brightens the day of anyone he comes in contact with,” said Panthers coach Ivan Cleary.

“I feel happy for our players, staff, members and partners that he will be here long-term.”
