Black Widow Star Scarlett Johansson Confirms Her Top Secret Marvel Studios Project Is ‘Still Happening’

Scarlett Johansson has just confirmed that her unannounced Marvel project is still in the works. This comes months after the Black Widow actress revealed that she’s done playing Natasha Romanoff in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, her association with Kevin Feige and the MCU, may be far from over. Here’s why.

Scarlett Johansson’s MCU project still in the works

This unannounced project was first announced by the Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige back in 2021. He had revealed back then that they were “already working with Scarlett on another non-Black Widow-related top secret Marvel Studios project with her as a producer.” This was announced shortly after her stint running as the executive producer for her character’s standalone film in the MCU, and her dispute with Marvel Studios which ended with a lawsuit.

Turns out, these events did not deter the fate of her project with Marvell Studios. Speaking with ComicBook.com, Johansson has now confirmed that project is still in development, though it’s currently on hold due to the ongoing Writers’ Strike.

“It is still happening, [but] not currently because nothing is happening right now,” Johansson said. “We’re all sort of in this holding pattern as we wait out the writers’ strike and potentially our own guild strike, and so on and so forth.”

Following the Writers’ Guild Strike against the Alliance of Motion and Television Producers which began on May 1st, the Screen Actors Guild- American Federation of Television and Radio Artists too approved strike authorisation earlier this month. Multiple Hollywood projects that are in their pre-production or scripting phase are now on pause. If the SAG-AFTRA too go on strike, which will be determined after June 30, we’ll get to hear more of such projects in the middle of productions, put on hold.

Regardless, on pause or not, Scarlett Johansson’s confirmation of her project with Marvel Studios in the works, is enough to keep fans guessing.
