Black Canary’s Canary Cry is a powerhouse attack — and she just used it to single-handily bring down a dangerous DC fighter.

Deathstroke is usually held up as one of the most durable DC fighters, having held his own against entire rosters of Justice League-tier heroes. But it turns out that one longtime hero of the DC Universe has always had the potential and power to defeat him on her own.
Deathstroke Inc. #4 (by Joshua Williamson, Howard Porter, Hi-Fi, and Steve Wands) sees Black Canary release a full-strength Canary Cry against Deathstroke — proving just how dangerous she really is by having the blast more or less take down the nigh-unstoppable Slade Wilson.
Deathstroke Inc #4 sees Black Canary and Deathstroke — who’ve been reluctantly working together as parts of T.R.U.S.T. — finally come to blows. While they do put aside their differences and try to team up against the organization, However, the T.R.U.S.T. commander Juliette was able to devise a way to turn the pair against one another. With the help of Doctor Destiny, the pair were briefly trapped in an illusion where the Legion of Doom had located them and gone on the offensive — seemingly killing everyone except Black Canary. Furious and with Lex Luthor apparently about to kill her, Black Canary unleashed a full power Canary Cry — in reality felling Deathstroke instead.
The strength of the attack was more than enough to send Deathstroke to the ground in immense pain. After Juilette — taking on the mantle of Libra and revealing Prometheus as one of her other allies — orders the villain to send Deathstroke and Black Canary to his Crooked House in the Ghost Zone, there seems to be a chance that Slade and Dinah could discover a way to escape. But this partnership might be over before it even really began, as Deathstroke pulls off his helmet and reveals the force of Black Canary’s scream has left him bleeding from various orifices on his face. He collapses backward, seemingly killed by the sheer force of her Canary Cry.
While Deathstroke hasn’t been operating at full power recently — with the mercenary suggesting he only has a limited time left on Earth — it’s still an incredibly impressive feat from Black Canary. Deathstroke’s innate healing capabilities and armor make him incredibly hard to put down. His Ikon Suit is designed to absorb attacks of various types, even granting Slade the capability of absorbing attacks from Superman with relative ease. And yet, a full-power blast from Black Canary was enough to collapse the mercenary under his own weight and seemingly fell him once and for all. It’s notable that she didn’t hold back with her attack, suggesting this has always been how powerful Black Canary has been.
Considering their current placement in the Ghost Zone, it’s likely Deathstroke will find a way to claw his way back to life or barely survive (especially considering previews have suggested Deathstroke is about to receive some major promotions down the line). But Black Canary’s Canary Cry — especially when fully unleashed and deployed without restraint — could be seen as being on the same level as an attack from someone as powerful as Superman or Wonder Woman. It’s a very impressive showing from Black Canary, and a reminder of just how powerful the young woman is, even outside her extensive martial arts training. There’s a reason she’s a prominent Justice League member, and she might secretly be one of their most powerful current members.
