BJP begins meets on forming 4 state governments
BJP president JP Nadda, general secretary, organisation, BL Santosh, and Uttarakhand BJP in charge Dushyant Gautam met with Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Dhami, state party president Madan Kaushik, state general secretary Ajay Kumar and others to decide on the next CM and ministerial colleagues on Tuesday. Dhami had lost the assembly election in Khatima and that has been a hitch in BJP taking a quick decision on renominating him as CM. Some MLAs who reached Delhi favoured Dhami, while adding that the decision of the leadership would be acceptable to all.
“Dhami Ji has done good work in six months. He is a capable and young leader. It is for the party to decide and we will go with the party decision,” Arvind Pandey, state cabinet minister, told media persons in Delhi. After the meeting at the party office, Dhami and Anil Baluni went to Parliament to meet home minister Amit Shah. BJP has appointed Rajnath Singh as observer for Uttarakhand, who will travel to Dehradun on Saturday to attend the legislative party meet to formally elect the new CM.
A meeting of Manipur leaders also took place after the Uttarakhand meeting. Manipur BJP in charge Sambit Patra, CM N Biren Singh, BJP state president A Sharda Devi and senior minister T Biswajit Singh met Nadda and Santosh in Delhi. Biswajit Singh is also in the CM’s race. The central leadership met the leaders separately too.
Wednesday’s meeting on UP will be attended by Shah, Nadda, Santosh, chief minister Yogi Adityanath, his deputies Keshav Maurya and Dinesh Sharma, state president Swatantra Dev Singh, state general secretary Sunil Bansal, state in charge Radha Mohan Singh and election in charge Dharmendra Pradhan.
The two contenders for CM in Goa are incumbent Pramod Sawant and Vishwajit Rane. BJP Goa in charge CT Ravi will first meet MLAs over breakfast in Delhi before heading for the meeting with the central leadership.
