BJB College tops cut-off mark list in many subjects – Times of India

BHUBANESWAR: Merit list of first-round selection of undergraduate (UG) first year was published on Thursday. A total of 1,68,537 students have been selected in the first round, 10,000 students more than last year’s first-round selection. Buxi Jagabandhu Bidyadhar (BJB) Autonomous College, Bhubaneswar has topped the cut-off mark list of different subjects.

The state has 2,49,539 seats in 1,022 degree colleges. This year, 2,44,252 students have applied for UG admission against last year’s 2,13,959 students. As many as 92,807 female students, 75,704 male, and 26 third gender category students selected in the first round will take admission between September 13 and September 16.

BJB College was at the top of cut-off mark lists for 22 subjects in five streams. It has set 95.2 per cent in geography honours subject against last year’s 92 per cent.

The college has topped the list in 13 out of 30 subjects of Arts stream, four subjects (mathematics, physics, chemistry, and statistics) in physical science, two subjects (botany and zoology) in biological science, two subjects (biotechnology and computer science) in the self-financing stream and one in commerce stream. BJB College has set 96.4 per cent for physics subjects in the physical science category and 96.4 per cent in zoology in biological science.

BJB College is the sought-after college for geography, economics, English, political science, psychology, anthropology, sociology, mathematics, history, education, philosophy, statistics, and music in the Arts stream. Other colleges include FM Autonomous College Balasore has set the cut-off mark at 80.67 per cent for Hindi.

Shailabala Women’s Autonomous College Cuttack and Narasinghapur Degree College are at the top of the cut-off list for Odia.

The second-round selection list will be declared on September 21. Admission of the applicants selected in the second round will be held on September 22 and September 25.
