BIZ BUZZ: From air turbulence… to hurricane
Earlier today, we told you about the “air turbulence” that a high-flying legal eagle has found himself in, specifically the martial turbulence variety. Well, here’s the rest of the story, seeing that many readers can’t seem to wait until Monday.
So what would prompt a wife to file a criminal complaint against her lawyer-husband — a former ranking government official — alleging that he violated the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Act, and further alleging that he had been carrying out an extramarital affair with another married lawyer?
Could it be because the wife was on the receiving end of a move by her lawyer-husband a little over three months ago for allegedly having an affair of her own?
Wait, let’s clarify that. It’s not the wife herself that was the subject of a legal complaint filed by the lawyer-husband but her alleged lover.
Biz Buzz learned that last year, the lawyer-husband discovered hard evidence that his wife was having an affair with a third party. The big reveal happened when he came home one day and his wife was nowhere to be found. He asked the house helpers where she was and they replied that she had flown to Thailand on short notice with this third party. Not knowing what was going on, he entered a room in their house which his wife had barred everyone except one helper from entering… and found handwritten notes from his wife’s alleged lover professing undying love, talking about their physical intimacy, and even one part where the lover was bad-mouthing the lawyer-husband.
Subsequently, the lawyer-husband also found evidence that his wife had been making large monetary transfers to her lover right out of their conjugal bank accounts. Ouch.
So early this year, the lawyer-husband went to court saying this third party “alienated the affection” of his wife against him, causing her to break her marital vows and resulting in the lawyer-husband suffering “injury, mental and emotional distress.” He’s also suing for at least P5.5 million in moral and exemplary damages, among others.
Oh, by the way… did we mention that the wife’s alleged lover is… well… also female? That’s right. It looks like a lesbian relationship. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with lesbian relationships… except perhaps when both women are, themselves, married.
Oh, and by the way, once more… did we mention that the wife and her alleged lesbian lover were having their alleged affair right inside the conjugal home of the wife and her lawyer-husband? That’s almost literally under the poor guy’s nose. Double ouch.
