Billie Piper recalls booze-fuelled first marriage with Chris Evans
Billie Piper, 40, has spent over half of her life in the public eye, having shot to fame as a young teenager. When she turned 18 and married Chris Evans, many believed it to be simple teenage rebellion, which she admitted may have been part of the attraction.
Billie first skyrocketed to fame at the age of 15.
Entering the pop industry, Billie became the youngest person to debut at number one with her 1998 song Because We Want To.
In the early 2000s, she dropped from the charts and headed into acting, with the “tabloid fodder” insinuating there were darker motives for her change in direction.
She told The Guardian: “Rather than, ‘Oh, she was a pop star.’ It was more, ‘She was a pop star, then she got pissed for five years with an old man.’

She admitted the times were “very drunken” but that she “needed” that and those experiences.
Billie confessed: “I felt like I’d actually found a real friend. It was very nurturing.
“I had a lot of fun during those years.”
The pair got married in Las Vegas, despite their 17-year age gap, in 2001.
DONT MISS:
While it was Billie’s first marriage, Chris had already been through the motions with his first wife Carol McGiffin.
The relationship ultimately wouldn’t last as The Guardian reported they split just three years later.
Billie and Chris officially divorced in 2007, but with no hard feelings and have reportedly remained close friends.
Although she still enjoys working in the entertainment industry, the former pop star claimed she hated fame, calling it “awful”, “gross” and “such a dark thing”.
She explained: “It will change your everyday experience of life in a way that is depressing, frankly, in my experience of it.
“When I imagine some of my happiest and freest times, most of them are pre-fame.”
“There are very few people who can be normal around it, or normal around you.
“It makes for a very warped world.”
Billie admitted she had first started growing sick of the attention when she was 19 and understood it to be “poisonous” almost from the start of her career.
