Over 16.48 lakh students, including 8.06 lakh girls, will sit for the exams at 1,525 centres throughout the state. In Patna district, 70,995 candidates will appear at 74 different centres.

Anand Kishore, chairman of the Bihar School Examination Board, announced that the exams would be held daily in two sessions from 9.30am to 12.45pm and from 1.45pm to 5pm. On Day 1, students would write the mathematics paper in both sittings.

“A control room (0612-2232227 and 0612-2230051) began operation at 6pm on Wednesday to ensure the safe and orderly conduct of exams throughout the state. It will remain operational until 6pm on February 24, the final examination day. Examinees may contact the control room with any concerns, which will be addressed immediately by the appropriate authorities,” Anand said.

He added, “Prohibitory orders issued under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure will remain in effect around examination centres on all days. No unauthorised person will be permitted to enter the centres and magistrates accompanied by police officers stationed there. Examinees will be frisked twice. Besides, they will not be permitted to bring calculators, cellphones, Bluetooth devices, or earphones inside the hall.”

To ensure the conduct of fair examinations, all centres will be equipped with CCTV cameras. A videographer will be assigned to each of the 500 examinees. Moreover, all invigilators, officials, and staff will receive identity cards. If an examinee’s admit card is lost, he may be permitted to sit for the examination after establishing his identity through the scanned photograph on the attendance sheet and roll sheet verification.

“The BSEB will distribute answer books and OMR sheets with candidate photographs pre-printed on them. Examinees will have an additional 100% choice on both objective and subjective questions. While answer books and OMR sheets will be distributed concurrently to examinees, OMR sheets will be collected earlier at the specified time,” Anand said, adding that each subject would have 10 sets of question papers (A to J).

Each district will have four model examination centres with all female examinees, invigilators, cops, magistrates, and other supporting staff.
