A section of the talk focused on the competition to create an innovation for a sustainable city based on the specifications provided, which is primarily aimed at students aged 6-18 and open to any school. If young people around the world participate, they will have the chance to direct their minds into the future and use creative foresight to help harmonise the peaceful relations of humanity and the environment.  Students can select one of eleven cities, including Pula (Croatia), Brighton (UK), and Aleppo (Syria), to focus on some central themes. Specifically, students will focus on low energy carbon neutral buildings and how we can develop low energy sustainable buildings for our cities, as well as what we can do to help protect them from future climate events.

One question to consider is how the structure can benefit people’s well-being. Furthermore, revitalization of landscapes as nature’s refuge and green spaces in cities. As well as transportation and future city problems and how to solve them. Because of the war, Slavutych (Ukraine) is a major focus in this competition. From the hope of reviving Chernobyl, which is now surrounded by a forest, an innovation for green cities appears very promising. The rebuild Ukraine 2023 partnership supports postwar reconstruction tools while taking into account existing challenges.

The international final will take place in July 2023, and the award ceremony will take place in the UK Houses of Parliament. Students can compete as part of a team (of up to five) or as individuals.
