Beyoncé shares touching tribute to ‘beloved queen’ Tina Turner: ‘I love you endlessly’
Beyoncé has joined the list of celebrities paying tribute to singer Tina Turner following news of her death aged 83.
The legendary performer’s death was confirmed Wednesday on her official Twitter and Instagram platforms.
And Beyoncé, who has shared the stage with the “What’s Love Got To Do With It” hitmaker several times throughout her glittering career, posted a touching message on her website to honor Turner.
“My beloved queen. I love you endlessly,” the “Alien Superstar” singer wrote. “I’m so grateful for your inspiration, and all the ways you have paved the way. You are strength and resilience. You are the epitome of power and passion.”
“We are all so fortunate to have witnessed your kindness and beautiful spirit that will forever remain. Thank you for all you have done,” added Beyoncé, who is currently in the UK as part of her “Renaissance World Tour.”
The 32-time Grammy winner has often credited Turner for being her biggest inspiration in the industry.
In 2005, Beyoncé honored Turner at the Kennedy Center Honors ceremony where she performed the hit song “Proud Mary,” with the iconic singer in attendance.
The pair then joined forces for a performance at the Grammys in 2008 — which marked Turner’s first concert performance in over 7 years.
“This is literally a dream to me because she’s the ultimate [sic]. To actually be on the stage with her is crazy,” Beyoncé, 41, said at the time.
Turner — who was inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist in 2021 — sold more than 100 million records worldwide throughout her career, with songs including the anthemic hit “The Best” and her solo comeback single “What’s Love Got to Do With It.”
News of her death was shared on her official social media accounts Wednesday.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Turner. With her music and her boundless passion for life, she enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow,” the statement read.
“Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music. All our heartfelt compassion goes out to her family. Tina, we will miss you dearly.”
