Bette Midler is reportedly set to perform a special set at King Charles’ Coronation next month alongside other famous faces in music.

The 77-year-old American singer will supposedly travel to the UK for the historic live showcase on Sunday, May 7.

Bette is due to join a line-up that already includes Lionel Richie and Take That – at the free concert for 10,000 people – according to The Sun.

A source told the publication: ‘Although booking performers hasn’t been easy, due to busy schedules and the last minute nature of the gig, bosses are quietly confident that a very special event is coming together.

‘Landing a Hollywood star like Bette is a real coup and she will add real old school glamour to the line-up. Bette is delighted to be taking part, she thinks it’s an honour.

‘Organisers are pulling out all the stops to give people a real spectacle, there’ll be something for everyone’.

It wouldn’t be Bette’s first time singing for royalty as she has performed in the Royal Variety Performance twice before in 2009 and 2014.

She said about meeting the Queen in the past: ‘When I was a kid I used to go to the public library I remember I was looking in the magazine and I saw a picture of a beautiful young girl kneeling down and getting a crown.

‘These black and white pictures made a big impression on me, I never recovered from it. I’ve been a fan of hers for years. I was nervous’.

Ahead of the big day, it has been reported that a number of A-list celebrities have turned down the offer to serenade the new king.

The likes of Ed Sheeran, Adele, Sir Elton John and Harry Styles have all supposedly declined to perform live at Windsor Castle on May 7 – which will be the day after King Charles is officially crowned at Westminster Abbey.

Performing in Texas on the day before the new monarch is crowned, Ed Sheeran closed out the  late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Pageant last June.

Harry will be continuing his worldwide Love On Tour roadshow and will be performing in Denmark close to the date of the coronation.
