Best pub in Heathrow airport has cheapest pint and ‘delicious breakfast’

The travel price comparison site dealchecker analysed “how good the Wetherspoon pub is at the airport”.

The travel experts compared thousands of Google reviews to uncover the best and cheapest pubs, and The Windmill at London Stansted Airport came first.

London Stansted Airport, The Windmill

With a Google rating of 3.9 and a total of 1,200 reviews, The Windmill at London Stansted is one the best airport Wetherspoon in the UK.

The pub actually won the award for “Airport bar of the year” in 2015 with some of the positive reviews praising the quality of the food.

One reviewer said they were “amazed”, whilst another commented it was “unbelievable”. However, a passenger noted that the naming of the “Spoons was completely off as it wasn’t an actual Windmill, but a pub in an airport”.

London Heathrow, The Crown Rivers

In second place, and with a Google rating of 3.9, the best airport Wetherspoon is The Crown Rivers at London Heathrow’s Terminal 5, rated highly by customers for its “very delicious breakfast and quick service [and] lovely interior”.

One reviewer commented: “The Crown Rivers is a busy Wetherspoon location due to being in a busy airport though staff is still attentive, professional and friendly”.

London Gatwick Airport A.K.A “Gatwick Airpub” (The Red Lion, The Beehive, The Flying Horse)

Gatwick Airport, in London, has three Wetherspoon restaurants (one landside and one in each terminal).

A customer said on Google reviews that The Red Lion is a “modern place with tons of drink options, great craft beers and yummy food”.

Birmingham Airport, Wetherspoon

With a Google rating of 3.8, reviews of the Wetherspoon restaurant at Birmingham Airport claim that the garlic bread is good and praise the speed of service here.

Edinburgh Airport, Sir Walter Scott

The Sir Walter Scott offers “very quick service” from its “committed” team members, although some reviewers claimed that their pizza was “missing rocket”.

In sixth place was the William Beardmore & Co, located in Glasgow Airport, Scotland.

Wetherspoon’s founder and chairman Tim Martin commented: “Wetherspoon airport pubs try to achieve the same goals as our city, town and suburban pubs throughout the land. We always try to build ‘pubs with soul’, even in airports, through characterful and individual pub design.

“A music-free environment, a good selection of real ales, coffee and food available all day from opening time and, hopefully, long-serving and experienced staff.

“The airport pubs are much busier than average, and are open for longer hours, but the aim is the same. Everyone at Wetherspoon is so pleased that our airport pubs, thanks to their amazing teams, are so popular.”
