Best hotels in the UK to visit in 2024 – and they start from £72.50pp a night
THE best hotels to visit in 2024 have been revealed – and they won’t break the bank.
Not only are they affordable, but many come with a few extras including sea views and free afternoon tea.
The Good Hotel Guide has revealed its top 12 hotels across the country, that were given the Cesar Awards which is named after Cesar Ritz.
Starting from just £145 a night, all the rooms (bar the city hotel) come with complimentary breakfast, so you can sleep easy knowing you can wake up to some amazing food.
Best pub with rooms – Inn at Whitewell, Lancashire
Despite being a pub, the Inn at Whitewell is much fancier than you might expect.
The rooms range from coach rooms and riverside rooms to suites as well as a three-double-bedroom holiday house The Piggery.
Make sure to stay for supper, with all the ingredients locally sourced, and options including fish and chips and roast pork.
Rooms start from £145.
Best B&B – Dorset House, Dorset
Named the best B&B, Dorset House has just five rooms, most of which have sea views.
Expect homemade cakes and bread, as well as locally sourced ingredients for the four-course breakfast.
While the Georgian House is stunning, make sure to pop for a walk along the nearby beaches of Lyme Regis.

Best country hotel – The Retreat at Elcot Park, Berkshire
If you fancy a break in the UK countryside, then The Retreat at Elcot Park has been given the highest recommendation.
Also previously named Best UK Hotel by The Times, the hotel only opened last summer.
However, there is lots to keep you busy – including complimentary fizz when checking in, electric bike tours, an on-site spa, and a heated outdoor swimming pool.

Best city hotel – The Rookery, London
In the centre of London, The Rookery has been named the best city hotel.
Wanting to feel “more private club than hotel,” inside are some of the original features including wood panelled walls and stone floors.
Along with the luxury rooms and suites, you can relax by the Coxervatory fireplace, or relax at the honest bar.

Best South England hotel – Boys Hall, Kent
A former 17th-century inn, Boy’s Hall opened just last year and has already been named one of the best country retreats in the world.
Their largest room, the Bishop’s Quarter, was rumoured to have welcomed Charles I, while all of the rooms are different but with original features.
The restaurant is popular with both locals and guests, with options including deep-fried paneer with orzo and Sunday roast lunches.

Best South West hotel – Plumber Manor, Dorset
Built in the 1600s Plumber Manor hasn’t just been named the best South West hotel.
The hotel’s restaurant has also featured in the Good Food Guide every year for forty years.
But make sure to stay at one of the 16 rooms, where you will be treated by homemade shortbread biscuits and tea when entering.

Best Midlands hotel – The Olive Branch, Rutland
The Olive Branch has won a number of awards for both its hotel and its dining over the years.
There are six rooms and suites rooms to choose from, with some having roll-top baths.
And the hotel even has cooking masterclasses, including pork, bread and pasta.

Best East Anglia hotel – The Harper, Norfolk
There are 32 rooms at The Harper as well as two cottages where you can get your breakfast delivered.
Grab a drink at the on-site bar or enjoy a changing menu of Norfolk cuisine at Stanley’s restaurant.
And when the weather is better head out to The Yard, although there are also blankets and fire pits.

Best Northern England hotel – Hazel Bank, Cumbria
Hazel Bank has only seven rooms, but each one has stunning views of the Borrowdale Valley.
Guests dining at the hotel can make the most of the set four-course menu along with canapes, cooked by the “lady of the house”.
And being surrounded by the countryside, you can go on a solo walk or request the hotel’s Mountain Guide Anna Lawford.
Rooms start from £290.
Best Wales hotel – Harbourmaster Hotel, Aberaeron
Boutique hotel Harbourmaster stands out at the port, being painted a bright blue.
The building dates back to 1811 with 13 bedrooms to choose from.
The dinner menu makes the most of the Welsh produce, using “Cardigan Bay shellfish, Welsh lamb and Ceredigion cheeses”.
Rooms start from £155.
Best Scotland hotel – Knockinaam Lodge, Portpatrick
Kockinaam Lodge is the only boutique hotel in Dumfries and Galloway’s.
There are just 10 rooms, although most have views of the Irish Sea.
The highlight of the stay is their 5-course tasting menu at lunch and dinner, which changes depending on what is in season.
