1. Safe House
Safe House is a 2012 thriller starring Ryan Reynolds, Denzel Washington and Vera Farmiga. It revolves around a CIA agent Matt Weston (Ryan Reynolds) who is operating a Safehouse in Cape Town, South Africa. Then he gets a chance to interrogate Tobin Frost (Denzel Washington), CIA’s most wanted rogue. But soon after Tobin’s arrival Safehouse is attacked by mercenaries who want Tobin. Matt and Tobin then have to work as a team in order to stay alive to figure out who wants Tobin dead. The two actors proved to be a strong duo in the entire film and fit perfectly in their respective roles. And trust us when we say this, you will not be disappointed with the action and the acting.
2. Inception
Inception released in 2010, featuring Leonardo DiCaprio, the film is an incredible action/sci-fic. The story revolves around Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) a skilled thief, who is the best at extraction, he steals valuable secrets from people’s subconscious during the dream state. This rare talent of his has made him a great player in the corporate world but it has cost him everything he ever loved. Cobb is offered a chance at redemption only if he is able to do an impossible task. Cobb and his team of specialists have to pull a reverse task, they don’t have to steal an idea but have to plant one. If he and his team are able to succeed this will be the perfect crime but the enemy is able to predict their every move. This film will surely keep you hooked to the screen as it is such an interesting film. And the storyline and casting is perfect.
3. Edge Of Tomorrow
Edge Of Tomorrow is the perfect action/sci-fi release in 2014. Starring Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt and Bill Paxton, the story revolves around how the earth is hit by aliens who are unbeatable by any military force in the world. Major William Cage (Tom Cruise) is an officer who has always fought the battles like going into a suicide mission, but he gets killed within minutes. He then finds himself stuck in a time loop forcing him to live the same combat, fight and die over and over again. But with each battle, William is able to increase his skills along with Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Emily Blunt). With each repeated encounter Cage and Rita get one step closer to defeating the enemy. The film flows in an interesting way and from the storyline to the screenplay we loved this film.
4. Mad Max: Fury Road
Mad Max: Fury Road, released in 2015, is an action masterpiece. Directed by George Miller, starring Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy, the film is set in an apocalyptic era on a planet which is out of our reach. A planet where humanity doesn’t exist and everyone is fighting for the basic necessities of life. Here live two rebels who can restore some order to survive. On one side there is Max (Tom Hardy) who is a man of few words and is seeking mental peace following the loss of his wife and child. On the other side there is Furiosa (Charlize Theron) a woman who believes her survival can be achieved only if she is able to make it to her childhood homeland. The action sequences in this film are jaw-dropping, George Miller has definitely put together a memorable action film.
5. Minority Report
Minority Report released in 2002 is a perfect blend of action, thrill and suspense. Starring the charming Tom Cruise, the story is set in the year 2054, in Washington D.C. where the crime is virtually eliminated by a law enforcing squad ‘Precrime’. The team has three gifted humans called ‘Pre-Cogs’ who have special powers to see the future and predict crimes before they are even committed. However the Pre-Cogs predict that John Anderton (Tom Cruise) who heads Precrime will commit a murder in the next thirty six hours. And John doesn’t even know the victim. The story continues as he decides to solve the mystery by finding out the ‘minority report’ which means the prediction of the female Precog which can predict a different story and prove that John is innocent. What the audience loved about this film was the concept and story was so fresh.
6. Contraband
Contraband released in 2012, starring Mark Wahlberg, Kate Beckinsale, Ben Foster and Giovanni Ribisi revolves around Chris Faraday (Mark Wahlberg) who used to smuggle illegal items into the country on freighters. He then starts a fresh life once he gets married and has a family. But when his brother-in-law blows off a deal with Briggs (Giovanni Ribisi) a drug dealer, Briggs demands a reinstitution which he is not able to deliver. Chris decides to find a way to pay Briggs back, so he gets on a freighter to go to Panama and sets out to bring back some counterfeit currency. Briggs then goes on to threaten Chris’s family and tells him to get drugs instead of the cash.
