Best family cars in the UK revealed from Citroen to Vauxhall
A CAR EXPERT has revealed the best family cars in the UK – and they won’t break the bank.
Practicality, safety and reliability are all essential for families, but it’s also important to find a car with low running costs and a comfortable ride on long journeys.
But drivers wouldn’t expect a family car to be as exciting to drive as a sports car, although many of the models on this list offer an enjoyable driving experience.
Family hatchbacks continue to make up a significant portion of new car sales in the UK, with plenty of models battling it out in a highly competitive segment of the car market.
Handily, experts at Auto Express have revealed the most reliable cars for families.
1. Dacia Jogger £16,305
Seven seats, plenty of room for adult and child passengers, up to 1,807 litres of cargo space and low running costs are just some of the many factors that bagged the Dacia Jogger the title of Family Car of the Year at the New Car Awards in 2022.
And the Jogger is among the most reasonably priced family vehicles available today, costing less than £17,000.
If you upgrade to the mid-level ‘Expression’ trim, it comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, electrically adjustable door mirrors, front parking sensors and climate control.
2. Skoda Octavia £22,795
According to Auto Express, the Skoda Octavia is a brilliant all-rounder that delivers on the essentials: competitive pricing, plenty of space and practicality, useful onboard tech and a range of efficient petrol, diesel and hybrid engines.
And with a starting price of less than £24,000, the Octavia represents great value, while the 600-litre boot and huge passenger space make you feel that you’re driving a car from the class above.
3. MG4 £26,940 £36,475
The MG4 is the newest model from the company to hit the UK market, and with pricing starting at under £26,000, it is also one of the least expensive electric vehicles you can now purchase.
Three versions of MG4 are available: SE, SE Long Range and Trophy Long Range. Both Long Range models feature a 64kWh battery that’s good for between 270-281 miles of range.
4. Cupra Born £36,475
The Cupra Born shares a number of components with its sister car, the Volkswagen ID.3, but it has been styled and fettled to be the more exciting model of the two.
They say that hot hatches are some of the most beloved cars that money can buy, combining driving thrills and practicality in a package that doesn’t break the bank.
This car comes with a 12-inch touchscreen with sat-nav, wireless smartphone mirroring, heated steering wheel, adaptive cruise control, and a reversing camera.
5. Hyundai Tucson £28,916
With the fourth-generation Tucson, Hyundai set its sights on some of the more premium offerings in the hugely competitive mid-size SUV market.
The Tucson has won the title of Mid-size SUV of the Year at our New Vehicle Awards for two years in a row thanks to the striking and distinctive looks, plenty of standard equipment across the range, and an overall feeling of high build quality.
This comes after a car expert revealed the ten best cars to own in the UK.
