Ben Shephard says Matt Hancock on I’m A Celeb has been ‘triggering’

The Good Morning Britain presenter said: “He has added an interesting dynamic hasn’t he because undoubtedly every time we talk about it on the show, it is quite triggering for a lot of people. 

“He sort of represents, politically, a period of our lives that we are still working through and still understanding the full ramifications of.”

As a surprise to some, Matt has now made it into the final four after beating the likes of Seann Walsh and Chris Moyles for a place in the semi-final.

Ben went on: “I am intrigued that some youngsters, who maybe hadn’t followed the political position quite so avidly, seem to be drawn to him.

“But he has had a lot of air time hasn’t he, he has been doing a lot of the trials and he’s been rising to the occasion and he’s been doing the best he can.”

Ben is supporting pal Mike Tindall, 44, who will take on the famous Celebrity Cyclone challenge alongside Matt, Hollyoaks star Owen Warner, 23, and Lioness Jill Scott, 35.

Speaking about his friend, Ben said: “Mike’s amazing and he feels like a great big dad in the camp sort of hugging and going around looking after everybody. 

The workout, powered by Speedflex, is dubbed “HIIT without the hurt” because it is designed to work you really hard without leaving you in pain the next day.

As a Speedflex Ambassador, Ben joined 16 teams who defeated more than 700 competitors from Everyone Active centres in Harrow Lodge, Basildon, Watford, Spelthorne and Fareham.

On his involvement, the presenter said: “The championships were great. The reason I am still working with Speedflex and I fell in love with it when I first got my hands on the machine was because there is such an amazing energy and sense of community about the way the class works. 

“I love exercise, I’ve always felt better not just physically but mentally when I exercise.

“I think finding an exercise class or an exercise routine that makes you feel like you’re working hard but disguising the fact that you’re working hard because you are having a great time is priceless.”
