Dessert lovers are in for a treat, as Ben & Jerry’s has announced the return of a beloved flavour.

The ice cream giant has revealed that Chunky Monkey will finally be available to buy again in the UK – after a lengthy hiatus.

For those not clued-up, the popular flavour features banana, nuts and chocolate chunks (shaped as the yellow fruit).

And, according to the brand, it will be stocked in UK supermarket freezers very soon.

Ben & Jerry’s announced the news on Instagram earlier this week, stating: ‘FLAVOUR RETURN ALERT. Fan-favourite Chunky Monkey is back!! Banana ice cream with chocolatey bananas and walnuts: the nuttiest chocolatey-chunkiest banana-iest concoction you’ll ever go ape for.

‘Keep your eyes peeled (see what we did there) for it landing in stores in the next few weeks.’

Ice cream lovers have been unable to get their hands on full-sized tubs of the flavour over the past few years – something that’s caused such an outcry, that there’s even a Facebook group named ‘Help Rescue The Chunky Monkey.’

So it’s safe to say that news of the comeback has gone down very well.

One person replied to the brand’s Instagram post saying: ‘I have been waiting years for this to come back! So happy.’

Another wrote: ‘You have just made my year.’

While someone else said:  ‘Yeeeeeeessssssssss why did it go and why did it take so long to come back!? I have petitioned for the return of this flavour!’

This week has also been a big one for Ben & Jerry’s, as the company announced the launch of a brand new item – the salted caramel brownie Peace Pop.

These ice cream sticks are available now for £4 in supermarkets.

The brand also unveiled a new sundae range earlier this year, made up of ice cream as well as whipped toppings – with four different flavours to choose from.
