Belinda Carlisle, Carly Rae Jepsen, They Might Be Giants to play Polis inauguration party
Colorado Gov. Jared Polis has announced a slate of popular musicians as the soundtrack to his revived inauguration festivities, inviting Go-Gos singer Belinda Carlisle, pop maven Carly Rae Jepsen, and alt-rock pioneers They Might Be Giants to the stage.
Gov. Jared Polis and Lt. Gov. Dianne Primavera this week revealed the headliners for the Sneaker Ball for All Inaugural Concert, hosted by AEG Presents, at Mission Ballroom in the River North Arts District. The event is public and tickets for the all-ages, Jan. 10 concert are on sale for $75 at coloradoforall.co.
Polis’ Inaugural Committee will donate a portion of the proceeds from its fundraising efforts to Denver nonprofits the Governor’s Residence Preservation Fund; Inside Out Youth Services; the STEAD School; and Broken Shovels Farm Sanctuary, according to a press statement from his office.
The concert will cap a day of events led by the official (and also public) swearing-in ceremony at the Colorado State Capitol starting at 10:30 a.m. A livestream link will be available at colorado.gov/governor.
Following in the tradition of Denver mayor-turned-governor John Hickenlooper, Gov. Polis has embraced pop-culture mainstays such as pop music, video games and stand-up comedy. When Polis first took the position in 2019, he brought Cyndi Lauper and Nathaniel Rateliff (of Denver’s Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats) to play his Governor’s Ball.
