Bees to host Blues after MK Dons draw

The club celebrated their Community Day and also launched new home and away kit for the 2023-24 season, having signed goalkeeper Jordan Gillmore on a four-year deal.

The 20-year-old came up through Millwall’s academy system, after spending time at Chelsea, and caught the eye of Bees goalkeeping coach Craig Holloway.

“Jordan is an impressive young keeper with plenty of good attributes,” said Holloway.

“I really like his attitude and willingness to learn. He’s got a really bright future in football ahead of him.”

It took just 12 minutes for Barnet to take the lead against MK Dons, as Laurie Walker’s long ball found Sam Barratt on the edge of the box and he netted at the second attempt.

Idris Kanu’s header flew narrowly wide soon after and Reece Hall-Johnson fired into the side netting before finding Nicke Kabamba, whose low drive was saved.

Danny Collinge headed over from Kanu’s corner before the break, but MK levelled on 54 minutes through Mo Eisa.

Dean Brennan made several changes on the hour, with Marvin Armstrong, Moussa Diarra and Callum Stead brought on.

But Diarra was forced off moments later and replaced by a trialist, with Courtney Senior heading Barnet’s best chance wide from a corner as it ended all square.

Bees revealed the return of Finley Potter from Sheffield United on a season-long loan, after a successful spell in north London last season.

The 19-year-old centre-back made 16 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice, as Brennan’s men reached the National League play-offs and FA Trophy semi-final.

“I’m really looking forward to it,” he said.

“I said after I left the club I was gutted not to get that promotion and I think it’s only right we can do it this season.”

Brennan added: “We’re delighted to have Finley back at the club.

“Last season was his first in the professional game and he was excellent for us.

“We look forward to continuing his development and having him play a crucial part in our team for the upcoming season.”

A Barnet XI will travel to Dunstable Town on Tuesday, July 25 with the club’s pre-season campaign being concluded against League One side Cambridge United at The Hive on Saturday week (July 29).
