Beer-related fundraisers for the victims of the Club Q shooting in Colorado Springs

Colorado’s LGBTQ+ community has been reeling since Nov. 19, when a gunman opened fire at Colorado Springs gay bar Club Q. In the weeks since the incident, which killed five people and injured more than a dozen others, allies and supporters have stepped by the hundreds of thousands of dollars to help those involved.

Families of the victims and survivors of the incident, however, will be feeling the ripple effects for years to come, which is why several local breweries continue to fundraise to support them.

Here’s where you can raise a pint while also raising money for those affected by the Club Q shooting.

“LOVE” glassware

Denver’s Ratio Beerworks has partnered with local artist Koko Bayer on a special edition pint glass, the proceeds from which will be donated to the Club Q Victims and Survivors Compassion Fund. Drinkers can order the glass ($10) to be shipped to their houses, or locals can order them for pickup on Jan. 12 between 4 and 8 p.m. when the brewery in RiNo (2920 Larimer St., Denver) will be collecting additional donations for those affected by the shooting. Grab a beer and stay a while, as Bayer and a representative from The National Compassion Fund will be onsite.

Q-mmunity Love hazy IPA

Phantom Canyon Brewing Co. brewed a special India pale ale to benefit its neighbors in Colorado Springs. The Q-mmunity Love hazy IPA features Citra, El Dorado, Mosaic, Sabro and Azacca hops for a bright and citrusy beer that boasts tropical fruit flavors. All proceeds from the 6.7% ABV beer benefit the Club Q Victims and Survivors Compassion Fund and The Trevor Project, a nonprofit dedicated to suicide prevention in the LGBTQ+ community. Several eateries in Denver will serve Q-mmunity Love ($8 per pint) alongside Phantom Canyon, including Wyknoop Brewing Co. and both Cherry Cricket locations near the ballpark and Cherry Creek. The businesses’ parent company, Breckenridge-Wynkoop, also pledged to match donations.
