Beef Bros: Sitterson & Cannon’s Bodybuilding Superheroes Return in New Graphic Novella
Aubrey Sitterson and Tyrell Cannon’s Beef Bros returns with a double-sized graphic novella entitled Beef Bros Behind Bars.
Dust off the spandex and the squat rack, because Beef Bros, the 2020 comic book Kickstarter from Aubrey Sitterson and Tyrell Cannon, is coming back for a second set.
Beef Bros Behind Bars is a double-length graphic novella written by Sitterson, illustrated by Cannon, colored by Raciel Avila and lettered by Taylor Esposito. The Kickstarter campaign is currently live and will last for 30 days. However, those who back the project on launch day (Oct. 26) will also secure themselves a stylish Beef Bros fanny pack. Other rewards include a second printing of Beef Bros #1 with a new cover, as well as motivational prints.
The original Beef Bros centered on “Two happy-go-lucky himbo bodybuilders [who] stand up for their community, pushing back against sadistic cops and greedy landlords!” The newest installment will see protagonists Huey and Ajax return, this time to “[take] on the prison-industrial complex and the entirety of the carceral state.”
According to Sitterson, Beef Bros was designed to buck the trend of traditional superhero comics that often turn their protagonists into “supercops.” When the first Kickstarter launched, he explained that the story was “a return to superheroes’ original identity as working class champions” and “an antidote to toxic masculinity.”
