‘Beautiful’ seaside town is an ‘amazing’ staycation hotspot
An idyllic seaside town is one of this year’s best destinations for a summer staycation with plenty for the whole family to enjoy.
Seahouses, a quaint fishing village on the Northumberland coast, is very close to incredible beaches.
The seaside town has a busy harbour and is known as one of the best places to eat fish and chips in the region.
Seahouses is a fantastic base to explore the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty from.
A tourist ‘David H’ wrote on Tripadvisor: “Gorgeous. A wonderful coastline on which to hike, swim and explore.”
Another visitor ‘julie s’ said: “This is a beautiful area to explore with many castles and places of interest.”
One user ‘Huguenot1’ said Seahouses was an “absolutely first class location for family holidays.”
Away from the beaches, Seahouses is also known for the heroic story of Grace Darling. The girl took out a rowing boat with father to save people from a wreck.
Her legacy lives on in Seahouses today and one of the RNLI lifeboats bears the name ‘Grace Darling’ in her honour.
Tourists can pick up some delicious fresh fish for dinner at Swallow Fish, which has been smoking onsite since 1843.
Seahouses is also just a short drive from Bamburgh, which was rated the UK’s best seaside town in Which? Travel’s most recent ranking.
Bamburgh Beach is renowned as one of England’s best and is usually free of the crowds seen at more well-known spots further south.
Tourists can also pay a visit to Bamburgh Castle, one of the area’s most outstanding landmarks.
The walk from Seahouses to Bamburgh is just 5km and tourists will enjoy some incredible views en route.
