‘Beautiful’ influencer killed in high-speed crash

A “beautiful” influencer, 22, has died after a car driven by her boyfriend smashed into taxi at 160km/h, an inquest heard.

A British influencer has died after her boyfriend crashed his Audi S3 into a taxi at almost 160km/h, an inquest heard.

Paige Rice, 22, was in the passenger seat of Callum Miller’s car when he smashed into the other vehicle on October 17 last year.

Callum, 27, died a few days after the horrific crash in the Queensway tunnel, located in Liverpool, in the UK, but Paige died within a few hours of the collision, The Sun reports.

An inquest heard that nail technician Paige had been visiting her boyfriend before the crash, and the couple had been in the car together.

Sgt Clarey told the hearing that the grey Audi had been speeding along towards the tunnel at 98mph (157km/h), on the 30mph (50km/h) road, before hitting two vehicles.

The car then collided with bollards at a high speed, before losing control and hitting a blue Mercedes taxi head on.

Both vehicles suffered heavy damage in the force of the impact, and the taxi travelled backwards some considerable distance.

The taxi driver was very seriously injured in the collision and was also at the trauma unit at Aintree Hospital, undergoing “extensive” surgery for injuries to his right leg, hip and wrist.

CCTV footage of the incident showed the initial and final collisions, with the Audi travelling at a “fast speed” shown from the dashcam footage of the taxi.

Initially police had treated the collision as a criminal probe, believing Mr Miller could have been investigated for death by dangerous driving.

But due to the condition of those involved, they chose not to proceed with the investigation.

Officers also found that the tact had been travelling at 24.6mph (40km/h), and the driver has been too unwell to give a statement.

Paige’s cause of death was recorded as trauma, while Callum’s cause of death was given as a traumatic brain injury.

Coroner Andre Rebello told the court: “We are none of us perfect, we all get something wrong and make mistakes every single day”.

“One thing I learned a long time ago is that we’re each given one life. And that one life is enough to be responsible for without judging the lives of others.

“We learn through life that love actually transcends death. Please celebrate Paige and Callum’s lives for the person you know.”

Mr Rebello concluded that both Callum and Paige died due to a road traffic collision.

‘No justice’

He added: “Today has brought back lots of wounds that have started to heal.

“When I die, I don’t want anyone to ever think about how I died; I want people to remember me for the person they know now.

“I don’t think anyone here would ever want to be remembered for their death. It’s appropriate and gives these young people their dignity in death if you celebrate those lives that you still hold in your hearts.

“Death is debilitating, it covers a range of emotions, anger, bitterness, revenge, love.

“The most important thing is not to let these deaths steal from you the person you continue to love. The only way you can do that is by storing up happy memories.

“Life is never measured in time, the quality of life is measured in love.”

Paying tribute to her daughter, Claire Rice said: “Fourteen weeks without my daughter Paige, I wish this would all stop.

“A lifetime of heartache is all I see and no justice for my Paige. My children are my entire world. My beautiful girl. I miss you Paigey.

“She was a beautiful woman inside and out. Her smile would light up a room.”

Dance-lover Paige, who often shared glamorous photos with her 20,000 Instagram followers, had gone to Valentine Theatre School as a young girl before starting her own make-up artist business when she was 15.

Manchester City ace Jack Grealish donated £5,000 ($A9,500) at the time to a fundraiser for Paige’s family, who are from Marston Green, West Midlands.

Grealish paid tribute to the young makeup artist, sharing a photo of her with her mum with the caption “RIP Paige.”
