‘Beautiful’ British seaside town crowned one of the best summer spots
The staycation trend shows no signs of slowing and this year many Britons are opting for seaside holidays.
According to research from the travel experts at Which?Travel, a gorgeous Scottish town is one of the UK’s best seaside spots.
Tobermory, on the Isle of Mull, was ranked the 10th best seaside town in the UK and second in Scotland.
The capital of the Isle of Mull, the pretty fishing port is known for its picture perfect coloured houses and woodland fringed bay.
Many Britons will recognise the town as the setting of the popular children’s storytime show, Balamory.
But what’s the story in Tobermory? The seaside town’s best-rated attraction on Tripadvisor is its distillery.
Tourists can take a tour of the Distillery which produces single malt whiskies and Hebridian gin.
Although Tobermory’s coastal views are gorgeous, the sea isn’t the only natural attraction in the town.
Aros Park, sometimes known as the town’s ‘back garden’, is a stunning wonderland of waterfalls and greenery.
A tourist ‘Malgorzata’ wrote on Tripadvisor: “A very nice park worth visiting. There are several waterfalls and beautiful green nature to see. Lovely views from the forest areas to the sea.”
The Isle of Mull is also one of the best places in the UK to spot wildlife, including the elusive white-tailed eagle.
Visitors can join a boat trip from the town with a chance of spotting minke whales, harbour purpose, seals and dolphins.
The seaside town scored four out of five in Which?’s scenery rating and three out of five for peace and quiet.
If Scotland’s not in the plans for this summer, Britons might want to check out a pretty seaside town in Devon.
