Bea Alonzo will no longer star alongside Alden Richards in the upcoming film “Special Memory,” the local adaptation of the Korean movie “A Moment to Remember,” due to what the actress’ management said is her full schedule this year.
In a statement released to “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” on Tuesday, May 2, Alonzo’s management said, “In the spirit of fairness, we deemed it appropriate to advise the producers of ‘Special Memory,’ a movie adaptation of ‘A Moment to Remember,’ that Ms. Bea Alonzo had to respectfully beg off from this movie project due to her full schedule this year.”
“Ms. Bea Alonzo has contractual obligations with GMA network to fulfill, and that shall remain as our top priority,” it concluded.
Show host Abunda said the actress and her management decided to beg off from the project because Alonzo does not want to keep the cast waiting for her while she attends to her other projects. Abunda added that Alonzo has agreed to and is happy over the production’s decision to recast.
GMA has also released a statement regarding the postponement of the upcoming film.
“GMA Pictures, Viva Films, and APT Entertainment would like to announce the postponement of the movie ‘A Moment to Remember,’ originally top-billed by Alden Richards and Bea Alonzo, due to scheduling conflicts within the production team,” it said.
“The new production date, cast, and cinema release will be announced in due time. Thank you,” it added.
“A Moment to Remember,” which stars Korean actors Son Ye-jin and Jung Woo-sung, tells the story of a couple who face hardships as a result of Alzheimer’s disease suffered by one of the characters. Alonzo was supposed to play the role of Son Ye-jin and Richards the character of Jung Woo-sung.
Alonzo and Richards signed their contracts for the film adaptation in March 2021, though talks about the project were reported as early as December 2020. It was then announced that the actors would begin filming in November 2021. /ra
