Batgirl Directors Tried Salvaging Their Movie After Getting Cancelled by Warner Bros. Discovery

The cancellation of Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah’s Batgirl film became the first domino that started a chain of reactions at Warner Bros. Discovery following its recent merger. After cancelling the Leslie Grace-led film for tax write-offs, WBD has since shelved several projects under development, while also removing TV shows and films from its streaming platform HBO Max.

The Batgirl camp led by the two directors and Leslie Grace were quite devastated, as the movie had completed filming few months ago. With an HBO Max release in sight, Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah were working on post-production when the unthinkable happened.

In a recent interview, the duo recounted the day when they found out that their project was being scrapped by Warner Bros. Discovery, with Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah even trying to salvage their work before its all lost at the hands of WBD.

According to the directors, they never managed to capture any of the film’s footage from the studio’s server by recording it on a mobile phone or by storing the files on their local server.

Moreover, the duo were distraught they managed to lose all the scenes involving a returning Michael Keaton as Batman, who is set to debut in the DCEU with The Flash next year.

With no footage from the movie at the hands of the cast and crew, it’s unclear whether the film will ever see the light of day through leaks, and at the moment, it’s pretty safe to say that we might have to wait to see Leslie Grace as Barbara Gordon in another movie.
