Barcelona have two transfer priorities for January after already reaching ‘agreement’
Barcelona have suffered a tepid start to proceedings in La Liga this season after well-documented financial woes this summer – but that could all be about to change if reports are to be believed, with Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling and RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo the two main targets on their radar.
After losing arguably the best player in the world in Lionel Messi this summer, alongside the departure of third-most expensive signing Antoine Griezmann to league rivals Atletico Madrid, Barcelona are in a state of extreme disparity from where they were last season.
Following their loss of control over the league title with just five games to go last season, the Blaugrana salvaged their season with a 4-0 win in the Copa del Rey final over Athletic Bilbao – but this season they are a shadow of that side.
Sitting just ninth after seven games, it is hard to believe that this is a side who dominated world football just 10 years ago.
But financial issues have crippled the Catalan club to the point where Barcelona have had to accept a huge hit on a number of investments.

However according to Mundo Deportivo, that could all be about to change with the potential signings of Sterling and Olmo.
Sterling has not been up to his usual level at City this season with just one goal in ten games, which could prompt Pep Guardiola to sell one of his star assets.
With Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish and Ferran Torres quite literally all waiting in the wings, Guardiola is not short of options – and could sell his star to fund a move for a striker.
With the majority of Barcelona’s only proper attacking options failing so far this season such as Philippe Coutinho and Luuk de Jong – alongside Sergio Aguero and Ousmane Dembele being injured – there is a need to bring in a big name upfront following Messi’s departure.

“Raheem played really good as a striker last game against PSG,” Guardiola said.
“He created incredible spaces for all of us.
“We need a guy who runs in behind right to left, Raheem is the best we have in the squad.”
