Bajaj Auto-Triumph launch Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X bike
Last week, the two automobile companies revealed the advent of the two bikes in London.
The motorcycles will be sold only through Triumph dealerships. Meanwhile, Speed 400 is expected to be available in mid-July, Scrambler 400 X’s availability will be awaited somewhere in the month of October.
Speed 400 will be retailed at Rs 2.33 lakh. However, for the first 10,000 customers, the bike will be available at a price of Rs 2.23 lakh. The price for Scrambler 400 X will be announced later, John Bloor, founder of Triumph Motorcycles said in a video played at the launch event.
With both the motorcycles being fully manufactured in India, Triumph Speed 400 is inspired by the design language of its powerful sibling, Speed Twin 900. However, the Scrambler 400 X takes its design cues from Scrambler 900/1200.
Bajaj’s new Chakan plant, which has a current monthly capacity of 5,000 units, will manufacture the latest Triumph products. Further, the bikes will be exported globally from India. While the partnership between Bajaj and Triumph was announced back in 2017 for designing, manufacturing and distribution of mid-capacity motorcycles, these motorcycles are the smallest-capacity and most affordable ones by Triumph. The bikes are equipped with a range of features like USD forks, rear mono-shock, disc brakes on both wheels with dual-channel ABS, all-LED lighting, traction control, semi-digital instrument cluster, and alloy wheels wrapped inside tubeless tyres.
India specific features, however, include Sari guard, front number plates, and grab handles.
More to come.
