Australian former game show host ‘Baby’ John Burgess has been rushed to hospital and is now in intensive care, it’s been reported.
The West Australian reported that the media personality, best known for hosting roles on popular game shows like Wheel of Fortune and Burgo’s Catchphrase, is in intensive care at the Royal Perth Hospital due to a bacterial infection.

The 78-year-old is reportedly in a stable condition with his wife by his side – and his manager Evan Broadway told the outlet that the star, due to be released on Friday, was already eager to get back to his work as a radio announcer.
“He wanted to work Saturday, and we said ‘nah mate have the weekend off, just take the day off,’” Mr Broadway said.
“But that’s just how loyal he is to his listeners.”
While ‘Burgo’ hasn’t been on-air as a game show host in some years, more recently he’s found new popularity thanks to his active Twitter account, where he posts weekly “thought for the day” joke tweets to an appreciative audience. His fans on the platform have today rushed to offer messages of support:
