Avatar: The Way of Water Crosses the $1 Billion Mark; James Cameron Reveals Concept Suit Art for His Famed Spider-Man Movie

Despite never meeting the wild original box office projections, the hype for Avatar: The Way of Water continues to remain high two weeks after its release in theatres across the globe.

The sequel to the hit 2009 blockbuster from James Cameron takes viewers back to the visually stunning world of Pandora, where we meet the alien race of Na’Vi. Featuring returning characters like Jake, Neytiri and Colonel Quaritch, the second film in the five-part film franchise gives fans peak film viewing experiences in theatres.

Cameron pushes his craft to the next level with the Avatar sequel. The incredible experience this film offers has pulled moviegoers to cinemas across the world. Now, within 12 days of its release, Avatar: The Way of Water has already crossed the famed $1 billion mark. This makes it 2022’s biggest release, behind Top Gun: Maverick and Jurassic World: Dominion.

Judging by the film’s box office numbers, it’s highly likely that the film will continue to have strong showings in theatres for the next two weeks, as it largely remains uncontested. And it will be interesting to see if the film just like the original can cross the $2 billion barrier.

Prior to developing Avatar and Titanic, Cameron had been roped to develop a live-action adaptation of Marvel icon, Spider-Man.

The film was rumored to feature a star cast of actors such as Leonardo Di Caprio playing the web slinger alongside Kevin Spacey as the Green Goblin, Arnold Schwarzenegger as Doc Ock, and more.

As everyone knows, Cameron never made the film, with his ideas for the film long-lost and forgotten. However, the director recently shared the vision for his suit for Spider-Man in a book titled “Tech Noir: The Art of James Cameron.”

Shared by film critic Chris Evangelista, we see Cameron’s drawings for the popular Marvel superhero, as he scales the side of a glass building, just like the way the character has over the years in films and comic books.
