Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Leak Shows New Images; Game Likely to be First-Person Only

Today, Ubisoft leaker ScriptLeaksR6 shared two new images of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, the upcoming open world action/adventure game in development at Ubisoft Massive.

Of course, the leaked screenshots aren’t of the highest quality, but they will still be interesting to anyone looking forward to the game. Additionally, ScriptLeaksR6 noted that Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora may be exclusively played in first-person view based on the materials in his possession.

That would likely be a choice made to increase the immersion in the world of Pandora, similar to what CD Projekt RED claimed for Cyberpunk 2077’s Night City. On the other hand, there are always some players that dislike first-person view or just suffer motion sickness issues due to it, so the choice will slightly diminish the potential player base of the game.

Last week, the same leaker shared that pre-orders for the game will begin soon, with customers getting The Child of Two Worlds Pack as a bonus incentive.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora was announced six years ago when Ubisoft Massive (The Division) partnered with Lightstorm Entertainment and Fox Interactive to create a game adaptation of James Cameron’s blockbuster movie franchise. Following Disney’s acquisition of Fox, Disney executives were so impressed with Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora that they decided to award Ubisoft Massive another big project, an open world RPG based in the Star Wars universe.

We had to wait until E3 2021 to get the first proper trailer for the game. Back then, the developers were still planning to release it in 2022, but Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora was eventually delayed to fiscal year 2023.

Powered by the latest version of the Snowdrop engine, the game will feature advanced technologies like ray-traced global illumination and reflections. Ubisoft Massive also promised next-generation AI. Lead Narrative Realization Designer Alice Rendell explained:

The different activities the NPCs can perform in the world and the different animations they have can make the world feel really alive. So for “Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora,” we wanted to take this one step further and created a system where our NPCs understand the state of the world — for example, weather, player progression, or time of day.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will be released for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X.
