Australia rocked by COVID-19 on eve of ODIs

Australia’s ODI series against Pakistan is in serious strife after spinner Ashton Agar tested positive to COVID-19.

Agar’s positive test means the tourists have just 13 players to pick from for the series-opener – which begins at 9pm tonight (AEDT) – with Josh Inglis already in isolation.

Team physio Brendan Wilson has also tested positive to the virus. All the other members of Australia’s touring party have returned negative tests at this stage.

Agar is expected to miss the entire three-match ODI series against Pakistan.

All three matches will be played in Lahore, with the second and third matches to be played on March 31 and April 2, respectively.

Australia will be without a number of it’s seasoned veterans after Steve Smith was ruled out of the series due to discomfort in his left elbow.

Smith is flying home from Pakistan alongside Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc and David Warner, all of whom have been rested for this series.

Also absent from Australia’s white ball line-up is Glenn Maxwell, who was married last week.
