Aussie star unrecognisable on Sydney red carpet

Businesswoman and reality TV star Roxy Jacenko looked virtually unrecognisable as she walked the red carpet at Thursday night’s Sydney premiere of the new season of Drag Race Down Under.

And the PR maven, who also appeared on SAS Australia and The Celebrity Apprentice, revealed on the night that she was channelling her drag alter ego “Coco Caine” to attend the event.

The dragged-up look was a hit with fans on social media, with one follower telling Jacenko they thought they were looking at a picture of Britney Spears, while another asked: “How is it that you look better as a man dressed up as a woman … than an actual woman?”

It was certainly a colourful red carpet, with Sydney drag queens including contestants from the show’s first and second seasons turning some eye-catching looks:

Meanwhile, Jacenko’s young daughter Pixie may soon be following her mum into reality TV, with reports earlier this year that Jacenko travelled to the US to meet with producers who are keen to get the 10-year-old in front of the camera.

She revealed last year that her daughter – the eldest of her two children with husband Oliver Curtis – “could retire at 15”, a revelation that made international news after her second business, Pixie’s Fidgets, made more than $200,000 in its first month of operation.

“Our family joke has been I’ll be working ’til I’m 100 and Pixie will have retired at 15 – I certainly know who’s smarter,” she told news.com.au at the time.

Jacenko was previously the star of her own short-lived reality series, I Am … Roxy!, which aired as part of Channel 10’s Pilot Week experiment in 2019.

Her other forays into reality TV haven’t been without controversy: Her brief stint on SAS Australiadestroyed her friendship and business relationship with Candice Warner, after the pair had a brutal boxing match on camera.
