A number of tributes have poured through for Lambert on social media.

“He was over from Australia to pursue his cycling dreams in Europe and when he had time he was always ready to help or crack a joke,” Netherlands-based business Fixed Gear Coffee said on its Facebook page.

“Last year he decided to stop racing himself but still be involved as part of his team staff.”

Lambert’s club MBO Cycling also posted a tribute online.

“We had the honour and pleasure having Connor Lambert several years in our club team,” the post read.

“We celebrated together some victories and supported his goals and passion for the bike.

“We will remember him always as a warm and thankful kid.

“Our thoughts go out to the family and all his friends.”
