Aussie batting prodigy locks in comeback match
Will Pucovski.
Will Pucovski will return to top-flight cricket next week, having been named in Victoria’s second XI to take on Tasmania in Hobart.
The 25-year-old enjoyed a stunning start to the 2022-2023 season with a double century in a second XI match, before scoring 64 a week later in the Sheffield Shield season-opener.
A short time later, Pucovski announced an indefinite break from cricket, citing mental health.

The one-Test rookie has been playing premier grade cricket in Melbourne for the last month.
David Hussey, Cricket Victoria’s head of male cricket, said it was great to see Pucovski back.
“We’re pleased to see Will’s progress and his desire to return to second XI cricket,” he said.
“From the outset we haven’t set definitive timelines on his return, but having played for Melbourne and the work he’s done off the field over the last few months, he feels ready for this and we wish him all the best.”
Pucovski played one Test for Australia in January 2021, and has previously taken sabbaticals for mental health reasons.
He has also repeatedly been sidelined due to concussions.
The second XI match will get underway at the picturesque Lindisfarne Oval in Hobart on Monday.
