Auburn students suspended after explicit tape of football star Jarquez Hunter leaks
Multiple Auburn students have been suspended after a tape allegedly involving sexual acts with star running back Jarquez Hunter leaked on social media earlier this week.
“We are aware of the situation and take this matter very seriously,” Auburn said in a statement.
“The appropriate offices are conducting a thorough review. Indefinite suspensions have been issued for violation of applicable Auburn Athletics department policy. No further comment will be provided at this time.”
It is not known how many students have been suspended, or if Hunter is among them, as the school has declined to identify these specifics.
According to OutKick, the video purporting to show Hunter having sexual activity with an unidentified woman leaked earlier this week, from a Twitter account labeled “Jarquez Exposed.”
It is unknown at this time who made the recording.
The account, which has since been suspended from the platform, sought to charge $5 to view the sex tape allegedly involving the Auburn running back.
Last season, Hunter rushed for 668 yards on 6.4 yards per carry and seven touchdowns, adding 224 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns.
He was the second-string running back last year, behind Tank Bigsby, who was just selected in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the Jaguars.
Hunter had been expected to start at running back for the Tigers this season, and is listed as the 56th-best player in college football by On3’s preseason rankings.
Last year, Auburn fired head coach Bryan Harsin in the middle of the season.
After a search, Auburn eventually named former Ole Miss and Liberty head coach Hugh Freeze to the job.
“Auburn is one of the preeminent programs in college football and I’m very appreciative of President [Chris] Roberts and [AD] John Cohen for the opportunity at Auburn,” Freeze said in a statement when he was hired.
“I’ve been fortunate enough to witness first-hand how special Auburn is during my time in the SEC and while visiting my daughter Jordan who attended Auburn and currently lives in the community.
“I can’t wait to work with our student-athletes and the Auburn family to bring championships back to the Plains.”
