ASTRO star Moonbin found dead aged 25 as K-pop bandmates ‘heartbroken’

Moonbin, who was part of the K-pop band ASTRO, has died at the age of 25.

It has been reported that the singer’s manager found him dead at his home in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, after he didn’t arrive for rehearsals.

The star, who was born Moon Bin, joined ASTRO in 2016, and rose to fame when their debut single Hide and Seek was released, earning the group fans in South Korea and across the world.

Moonbin’s bandmates have since spoken out on the tragic news of his death.

They wrote on Twitter that the loss is “heartbreaking” and told fans the singer has become a “star in the sky”.

The group continued that the sadness of Moonbin’s bereaved family is “incomparable”, but that ASTRO members are also in mourning.

They added that Moonbin always appreciated the band’s fans more than anyone else.

The band’s statement continued to ask fans to refrain from speculation over the news, before confirming that the funeral will be quiet, according to Moonbin’s family’s wishes.

Moonbin had been set to perform in Jakarta next month with his ASTRO bandmate Sanha, but organisers announced today the show would not go ahead, due to “unforseen circumstances beyond our control that we could not avoid.”

The Seoul Gangnam Police said in a statement: “It appears that Moonbin took his own life.

“We are currently discussing the possibility of an autopsy to determine the precise cause of death.”

In 2016, the band formed entertainment company ASTRO, and were branded one of the best K-pop bands by Billboard.

They went on to feature in their own reality show, Astro OK! Ready, which aired in 2016.

Moonbin’s sister, Moon Sui, is also in the music industry as part of the girl group Billie.
