Aston Martin reveals £1.5million two-seat V12 ‘speedster’ with no windscreen

ASTON Martin has revealed a new two-seat speedster that will go from 0-60mph in just 3.4 seconds.

It’ll also do 198mph, but comes with no windscreen, so remember to pack your goggles.

It’s called the Aston Martin DBR22 and if the price, modest number of seats or lack of screen wasn’t already a problem, the other catch is Aston is only building 10.

That’s to celebrate the 10 years of Aston’s Q Division, which makes bespoke machines for clients with considerable wealth.

Which is exactly why Aston Martin has chosen Pebble Beach at the Monterey Car Week in the US to launch it; there’s no shortage of wealth about.

The DBR22 comes with Aston’s well-known 5.2-litre, twin-turbo V12 engine making 705hp, here sent through an eight-speed automatic gearbox to the rear wheels.

But like the other models from Q the DBR22 gets its own unique look, this time inspired by Aston’s DB3S and DBR1 race cars, the latter of which won Le Mans in 1959.

That means two seats, an open cockpit with a very small screen and lashing of leather and carbon fibre inside.

On the outside, Aston has tried to use a few body panels as possible to create a flowing design and we reckon they’ve done a superb job.

The grille is carbon fibre, so are some of the body panels and Aston has used aluminium 3D printed extensively throughout the car.

This being Q, you don’t need to have the paint and interior you see in these pictures if you don’t want to.

Rest assured that, with enough funds, you can pretty much have whatever you jolly well like.

And Aston will have no issues selling all 10 of these DBR22s despite the punchy price.
