Assassin’s Creed Mirage Rating Might Have Revealed A Major Gameplay Twist

Assassin’s Creed Mirage was recently rated by the ESRB, and the description might have revealed a major gameplay twist. Last year, the game ‘wrongly’ received an “adults-only” rating.

As picked up on social media following a post from tech4gamers some hours ago, the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) recently rated Ubisoft’s upcoming Assassin’s Creed installment with an “M”, featuring blood, grote, drug references, intense violence, and strong language. For those familiar with the franchise – just your everyday Assassin’s Creed game.

The game’s description, however, could contain an interesting tidbit about the game’s story and gameplay. “This is an action-adventure game in which players assume the role of a thief/assassin battling a secret order in ancient Baghdad”, the description reads. “Players explore open-world environments while performing missions (e.g., searching for items, battling enemies) and using stealth to kill human targets.”

According to the rest of the description, in the game, players will not only fight bosses, and soldiers but also fellow assassins.

Players use swords, daggers, arrows, and a concealed blade to kill soldiers, fellow assassins, and boss characters in frenetic melee-style combat. Fights are highlighted by screams of pain and frequent blood-splatter effects. Cutscenes also depict instances of violence: a bound prisoner stabbed slowly through the chest; a victim assassinated by hanging. The words “f**k” and “sh*t” appear in the game.”

An interesting touch for sure. Of course, it’s possible that this description isn’t entirely spot on and that it’s simply a reference to the Order of the Knights Templar – something we’ve seen in previous Assassin’s Creed entries as well.

We’ll update you as soon as more information about Mirage comes in.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage launches on October 12 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
