Assassin’s Creed Codename Red Reportedly Features Playable Samurai and Shinobi Characters, All You Need To Know

At last year’s Ubisoft Forward, the French gaming giants announced a slew of new titles set around its iconic RPG franchise, Assassin’s Creed.

The first of these titles will arrive later this year, with the release of Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Moreover, the series will also see major outreach, with new locations. One of the most exciting titles from this lot is called Codename Red, which will take players to feudal Japan.

Not much has been officially revealed by the developers at Ubisoft Quebec, who are working on the project. However, new leaks reveal some interesting bits about the game’s playable characters.

According to Insider Gaming, the game will feature two playable characters. The characters in question are modelled after Japanese samurai and shinobi. The report suggests that the short trailer unveiled for the title by Ubisoft is the female samurai character. The shinobi character, on the other hand, is reportedly an African refugee, who “learns the way of the Creed.”

Another interesting detail about the title is Ubisoft Quebec’s focus on stealth gameplay, akin to the games seen in franchises like Hitman and Splinter Cell. Because of this, players can recreate a ton of classic Assassin’s Creed moments, such as hiding bodies and themselves in grass, and much more.

At the moment, there’s no information about what the title will be called. Furthermore, it also seems like Ubisoft has no plans to showcase the title anytime soon, with the company focusing on its upcoming release in Mirage.
