Synopsis

The seven-seater SUV segment is an attractive alternative to boxy MPVs. With SUVs contributing 46% to its product portfolio, launching a seven-seater is logical for Hyundai. Last year, Hyundai was on the top of the SUV chart, controlling 26% of the market. Can Alcazar match up to the likes of the new Tata Safari, Mahindra Scorpio, or MG Hector Plus?

With an unconventional-shaped Santro, which looked completely different against the low-rise Maruti Zen or Maruti 800, South Korean automaker Hyundai began its long ride in what was a not-so-diverse market back then in 1998.
